FOR BRANCH COUNCILLOR

She/her

I have been an ANMF Vic Branch member since starting my studies in 2023 in Deakin University’s Bachelor of Nursing (Clinical Leadership) program. I’m in my final year of study. Since 2024, I’ve worked as a Registered Undergraduate Student of Nursing (RUSON) across major metropolitan hospitals in Melbourne, gaining experience in acute aged care, geriatric rehabilitation and management, inpatient psychiatry, cardiology, and cardiothoracic units.

This year I was proud to become the first ever Branch Councillor who is also a RUSON. I want to support student nurses to successfully make the transition to graduate nurses and fight for stronger protections for early career nurses, including mental health supports and realistic workloads. I also want to see accessible professional development opportunities for students and graduates and promote greater student inclusion in ANMF campaigns. This is an extension of the work I’ve done as Secretary of the Deakin Nursing and Midwifery Society.

As one of 13 kids, including two with autism, I have always been passionate about healthcare and my passion for nursing developed after receiving care from amazing and skilled midwives. I was also a personal care assistant before I was a student nurse.

Every member matters. I want to be a voice for those still finding theirs. As an active ANMF member and Branch Councillor I want to continue to support my colleagues and grow our union. If elected, whether you're just starting your career or decades in, I will fight for your safety, recognition, and rights as the ANMF has always done. That’s why I’m asking you to vote for the Maddy Harradence Team.
