Judy Foord
FOR BRANCH COUNCILLOR
She/Her
I became a mental health nurse in 1989. I was passionate about improving care for people in mental distress. Over the past 36 years, I’ve seen our profession evolve, particularly with the rise of nurse-led care. With 12 years as a Nurse Practitioner, I understand the value of innovative roles and clinical leadership.
I joined ANMF because I wanted to be part of a professional, specialist nursing union. I became a Job Rep in 2004 to represent myself and colleagues to work together to address workplace issues and improve conditions.
If elected, I will work towards achieving safe staffing ratios in mental health services, reducing occupational violence, and protecting mental health nursing positions. I am especially committed to increasing Nurse Practitioner positions in regional and rural areas, expanding mental health content and the provision of quality mental health placements in undergraduate nursing education. I will advocate for removing barriers for NPs and pushing for more MBS items to support our role.
Every member matters. I am dedicated to fighting for nurses and midwives to be respected, fairly remunerated, and supported in their roles. Together, we can ensure that all nurses and midwives can work with pride and return home safely. That’s why I am asking you to vote for the Maddy Harradence Team.
