FOR BRANCH COUNCIL EXECUTIVE

She/Her

I’m an Associate Nurse Unit Manager at Goulburn Valley Health. I’ve been a Job Rep since 2012, and a Branch Councillor since 2018, before joining Branch Executive two years later.

I started nursing in 1997, because caring for people was where my passion lay in life. Coming from a family with strong nursing roots, I knew it was a rewarding and sometimes difficult career. I found my home in general medical nursing, where the work and clientele are varied, and the learning is constant.

Eager to make a difference during the 2011/12 EBA, I became a delegate to support my colleagues, and advocate for safe staffing and working conditions. As my knowledge of the role grew, I became more involved in local discussions regarding change implementation and the consultation process.

As a Branch Councillor and Branch Executive member, I recognise the importance of advocacy, shaping the future of our professions and making a meaningful difference in all workplaces.

As a regional member, I know our unique workforce recruitment and retention challenges. These issues require proven strategies to address the financial and social hurdles confronting prospective candidates. Incentives, such as providing accommodation options to encourage students and graduates to consider relocating to regional Victoria, are a part of discussions that I have brought to the ANMF as a Branch Councillor.

Every member matters. If re-elected, I’ll ensure that nurses, midwives and carers are at the heart of ANMF decision-making. That’s why I am asking you to vote for the Maddy Harradence Team
