Ruth Bloom
FOR BRANCH COUNCILLOR
She/her
I'm an enrolled nurse working in ED at the Royal Melbourne. Since becoming a nurse in 2002, I have never lost the passion that first inspired me to enter the profession. Nursing is all I've ever wanted to do.
As a child, I witnessed the 1986 nurses strike. It left a lasting impression on me and sparked a deep respect for the power of collective action. It was only natural that I would go on to become a proud union member, Job Rep since 2004 and Branch Councillor since 2017.
Serving as a Branch Councillor is an honour I hold with the utmost respect. I am a strong advocate for person-centred care, and I bring that advocacy into every aspect of my union work. I understand the daily pressures we face across our professions – in every ward, clinic, aged care facility and health service.
I am deeply proud of what we have achieved together, in solidarity, as nurses, midwives, and personal care workers across Victoria. I believe every member matters – regardless of your role, your workplace, or where you live.
As an active and inclusive delegate, I stand by my colleagues and support them through their industrial challenges. I have proudly participated in five EBA campaigns and remain committed to fighting for safe workplaces, fair conditions and respect for our professions.
If re-elected, I will continue to bring my emergency nursing experience, my strong values, and my unwavering commitment to the profession. I ask for your support – and your vote – for the Maddy Harradence Team, because every member matters.
